Zine 002 - November '25

CA$12.00

Jolly End Co. zine #002, “Autumn Verse and Sweet Heart Poems,” features 27 pages of content for the fall - centring around harvestcore homoromantic poetry the zine follows a loosely linear love story of a farmer and a merchant in an old-timey aesthetic setting. It also includes short experimental fiction, original photography, prints, craft inspiration for an embroidered “sweet heart keepsake” ornament you can make using recycled/upcycled/and improvised materials, and some cozy recipe suggestions for topping your oatmeal, rice pudding, chia, or ‘gruel like breakfast grain of choice’, as well as some hand illustration. All the content is original and created by Witness Ellis.

The poetry in this zine focuses on the following themes:

harvest, longing, chaste love, pining, homoromanticism, agriculture, thanks-giving (as practice), friendship, courtship, autumn, nature, tradition, unrequited and requited love, vintage rural aesthetics, love confessions and quiet devotion

It is loosely set in a vaguely late 19th/early 20th century setting but in an alternate universe without the bigotry and prejudices of our actual world. There are some illusions to class distinction, but these are not as life-limiting as they would’ve been in reality. It is very much vibe written and not meant to be taken as a historical statement of fact.
